Anthony Kiedis Launches Coffee Brand JOLENE, Because Apparently Everyone’s a Barista Now

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis has joined the growing list of rock frontmen entering the beverage hustle. He has launched a canned coffee brand called JOLENE.

And yes, it’s exactly what you think — a play on “cup of Joe,” “lean latte,” and a wink at Dolly Parton, because why not throw everything into the pot?

The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman co-founded the brand with longtime mate Shane Powers. The lineup is simple: two canned options — Black (cold brew) and White (an oat milk latte). Both are available in 12-packs for $33 and $36 respectively, which, for LA prices, is practically budget.

JOLENE sources its beans from an all-female co-op in Peru, and while that might sound like standard-issue PR, it’s a solid move — one that supports women growers directly, according to the brand’s press release.

What’s maybe more interesting than the coffee itself is who Kiedis has roped in to help distribute it: Live Nation. The concert giant is backing JOLENE as both an investor and distributor, meaning fans can expect to find it at festivals and inside 40 of Live Nation’s venues across the US. There’s even talk of JOLENE showing up in signature cocktails — because nothing says Saturday night like a spiked oat latte with a side of Californication.

It’s not uncharted territory. Green Day did something similar with their Oakland Coffee brand, and Live Nation previously inked a deal with Liquid Death back in 2021. But JOLENE feels less punk startup, more wellness-core with a famous face.

Still, it tracks. Kiedis has always danced somewhere between sun-kissed mystic and Venice Beach dad energy, and a clean, boutique coffee line is right on brand. Plus, there are worse ways to cash in on a legacy than by caffeinating the masses.

No word yet on whether Flea’s launching an ayahuasca line next, but honestly, wouldn’t be surprised.
