We don’t know what Wednesday Island is, exactly, but we’re intrigued.
The second season of Wednesday is almost upon us. The first four episodes of Netflix‘s Addams Family reinvention drop on August 6, and that means the hype machine needs to start spinning up to speed right about… now. And the first glob of promotional material to fly off the Netflix publicity department’s pottery wheel is something called Wednesday Island.
What is Wednesday Island? Hard to say. Presumably it’s got nothing to do with the actual Wednesday Island, a spit of nothing a mile off Antarctica. Like a glob of clay (I’m driving that metaphor until the wheels fall off) it’s sort of shapeless right now. The presser offers few clues, saying only this:
Something peculiar is afoot. Cryptic billboards have been seen mysteriously popping up around Australia today, directing fans to a shadowy corner of the web. Go to wednesdayisland.com.au for the official countdown. The clock is ticking. All shall be revealed soon.

Hitting that link gives us a countdown that, by my back-of-the-napkin calculations, means something is happening at the stroke of midnight on June 10th.
Wednesday, of course, stars Jenna Ortega as the titular stone-faced Addams kid. Shunted off to Nevermore Academy, a private school for monster kids, after she traumatised too many normies at a regular school, the series sees our haughty heroine deal with all the dramas of adolescence, along with the odd supernatural murder mystery and whatnot.
This season, “Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.”
But until season 2 lands, we have the mystery of Wednesday Island to occupy us. We’ll keep you posted.
