Will Silksong Finally Be Revealed At Gamescom This Year?

Share

Gamescom’s Geoff Keighley has posted a photo hinting at potential Hollow Knight: Silksong news at the upcoming event.

For the last few years, whenever a gaming showcase is announced, the internet would rally itself to ask: “Will today be the day Hollow Knight: Silksong gets revealed?” Well, that day might be coming soon thanks to Gamescom.

Gamescom is set to take place on August 20-21 in Cologne, Germany, and publishers and tech companies are already teasing what they’ll have on offer at the show.

Just this morning, host Geoff Keighley posted a picture of himself on X hinting at something Silksong related.

For anyone out of the loop, the clown costume is a famous meme within the Hollow Knight community.

With the caption, it’s reasonable to assume this is just poking fun at the Hollow Knight community. Since the game was revealed in 2019, fans would rally around every showcase each year, begging for it to be “the one” that would officially reveal the game. So, if we had to give this a fair read, Keighley’s post could be simply having fun with that reputation.

But if I had to take a huff of that hopium like Mad Max‘s Immortan Joe and play devil’s advocate, I’d say there’s a very strong case that we’ll be getting Silksong content one way or another.

The first sign, which is a pretty big one, is that Xbox shared a blog post in July revealing that a playable demo of Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available to play on PC or on its latest handheld console, the ROG Xbox Ally X at Gamescom. This will be the game’s first-ever playable demo, so you can expect gamers to be eagerly following along for first impressions.

If that’s not enough, Australia itself will also get the opportunity to play the game in September at Melbourne’s very own ACMI as part of its Game Worlds exhibition.

Xbox’s very own Sarah Bond has also mentioned that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available to play on their new console on launch. The company has officially announced that it will be releasing sometime in late 2025.

So, could Keighley be poking the bear? It’s entirely possible. However, given Silksong’s prominence at Gamescom already and proximity to the Xbox ROG Ally, it’s hard not to imagine that we’ll be hearing something official soon. I refuse to put on the clown costume one more time.
