HEAVENSGATE have announced their EP A HEART IS A HEAVY BURDEN alongside new single ‘PETRICHOR.’

Melbourne heavy outfit HEAVENSGATE have returned with new music, announcing their sophomore EP A HEART IS A HEAVY BURDEN and releasing the single ‘PETRICHOR.’ The EP is set to arrive on October 24 through Greyscale Records and Pure Noise Records.

‘PETRICHOR’ signals a shift for the band, balancing familiar elements of their earlier sound with a more mature and refined direction. “This song helps bridge the gap between some of our older material that fans grew fond of whilst introducing them to a fresh take on those ideas,” the band explained. “We’ve grown a lot as a band and so have our tastes, this single perfectly encapsulates that and shows how much our sound has matured.”

That growth extends across A HEART IS A HEAVY BURDEN, a collection that threads personal experience and emotional depth through a modern metalcore lens. HEAVENSGATE note that every lyric and riff is designed to resonate beyond the surface, capturing both raw intensity and melodic weight.

HEAVENSGATE have built significant momentum over the past two years. Their debut EP And All I Loved, I Loved Alone arrived in 2022, co-written and produced by Joshua Ang (Pincer+) with contributions from Erik Bickerstaffe (Loathe) and Buster Odeholm (Thrown, Humanity’s Last Breath, Vildhjarta). Since then, the band have toured extensively, supporting The Amity Affliction, Ice Nine Kills, and We Came As Romans in arenas across Australia, as well as completing their first North American run with Thrown and sharing stages nationally with Chelsea Grin and Currents.

Now, HEAVENSGATE are extending their reach further. This September and October, they’ll join We Came As Romans on the Bad Luck Tour across the UK and Europe with Brand of Sacrifice, before returning to Australia for Thornhill’s Bodies Tour alongside Amira Elfeky and Paledusk.
