KISS’ Gene Simmons Is Recovering At Home After Car Crash: ‘I’m Completely Fine’

KISS’ Gene Simmons is recovering at home and “all is well” after reportedly passing out behind the wheel and crashing into a parked car.

Gene Simmons of KISS is “completely fine” in the wake of his Malibu car crash, and is recovering at home after being briefly hospitalised to be checked out by medical professionals.

The accident took place on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu just before 1pm local time on Tuesday (October 7), as per reporting by NBC4 Los Angeles. Simmons, aged 76, was behind the wheel of his Lincoln Navigator when it crashed into a parked car, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. A witness called 911, and emergency services responded to the incident.

He reportedly told authorities he either passed out or fainted before crashing, but the exact cause of the accident has yet to be officially confirmed.

The KISS bassist and vocalist’s wife Shannon Tweed said Simmons was now recovering at home. She suggested that the incident could be due to the fact that doctors changed his medications recently and he needed to drink more water (which he apparently isn’t a fan of).

Tweed also said Gene Simmons’ car travelled across multiple lines of traffic during the crash. NBC4 reportedly received a voice note from Simmons, in which he said he was doing fine.

Now, the KISS legend has taken publicly to social media to confirm that “all is well,” and the crash was a lot less serious than fans might’ve initially thought.

“Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”

While the exact cause of Simmons’ crash likely won’t be confirmed for some time while authorities investigate (and possibly, doctors investigate why he reportedly fainted in the first place), it looks like everything’s fine after a pretty scary incident. With a KISS ‘unmasked’ show in Vegas next month and the band set to receive this year’s Kennedy Centre Honours, the band has a busy few months on the horizon – so here’s hoping he has a speedy recovery.
