Ghost of Yōtei Set To Receive Massive Update With New Game Plus Mode & More

Ghost of Yōtei is set to receive its first big free update, boasting a New Game Plus mode, a harder difficulty, new cosmetics and more.

Ghost of Yōtei is getting its first major update next week, which is set to offer fans who have already completed the game new reasons to run it back.

Developer Sucker Punch Studios shared earlier today that on November 24th, players will receive a free update to the game, which is set to offer new cosmetics, trophies, more photo mode features and even more replayable content.

The major feature added in this patch is a New Game Plus mode, letting players replay Atsu’s quest with all the equipment and items earned throughout the game.

The mode will unlock after players have finished the main story. But to help the game not feel like a cake walk, Sucker Punch have also added new harder difficulty options along with two new trophies.

If you loved getting to dress Atsu up and make her appear as a truly fearsome Oni, you’ll be happy to know the new update will also bring 30 new cosmetics, including new armour sets and weapon dyes. It’ll also include 10 new charms and add an additional tier of upgrades for your existing armour sets and weapons.

But that’s not all – players will also be able to replay content in the post-game after they’ve completed the main story with an added stats display.

Sucker Punch has also confirmed they’ll be adding new accessibility features, including directional button mapping. Which is great news as someone who keeps entering photo mode while trying to panic heal in the middle of a clutch fight.

Speaking of Photo Mode, fans will be happy to know that the devs have thrown you a bone and added more features, including shutter speed, a composition grid and new filters.

While it might not be enough to sway players to return to the impressive epic after finishing it, it’s still nice to see some solid quality-of-life updates and new features for those wanting a fresh experience either way.

Just recently, it was reported that Ghost of Yōtei had sold 3.3 million units in its first month of availability, making it the biggest first-party release for a PlayStation game in Europe since Spider-Man 2. Not bad for a fairly new IP if you ask me.
