Ol’ Pyramid Head Is Back In The Return To Silent Hill Trailer

Share

Original director Christophe Gans returns to the gnarly but uneven Silent Hill franchise.

The first Silent Hill movie was pretty good! Released all the way back in 2006, French director Christophe Gans’ video game adaptation admirably captured the somber, unsettling tone of the source material, while also remembering to occasionally treat us to a huge lad with a pyramid for a head ripping off someone’s entire skin.

The second one, on the other hand, was pretty bad! Now we have a third incoming, and this latest attempt has our man Gans back behind the camera for his first feature film in 12 years. Has he still got the chops? Let’s have a look…

Return To Silent Hill Trailer

What’s the plot?

As the official synopsis tells us:

James is devastated after being separated from his soulmate and receives a mysterious letter that leads him back to a town called Silent Hill, where he hopes to find her. However, he discovers that the town has been changed by some unknown malevolent force and as he delves deeper into the town, he finds terrifying figures, both familiar and unfamiliar. Doubting his mental stability, he tries to comprehend reality and hopes to stay strong enough to rescue his beloved.

Yep, that’s a Silent Hill movie.

Who’s in it?

  • Jeremy Irvine as James Sunderland.
  • Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary.
  • Evie Templeton as Laura.

When’s it out?

Return to Silent Hill hits Australian cinemas on January 22, 2026.

What’s the vibe?

Return To Silent Hill looks the business, no argument, but the issue at hand is there’s only so many Silent Hill stories you can tell, really. In fact, there’s pretty much just one, which we’ve already seen (and played) plenty of times before. So I guess if you dig that story, here it comes again…
