Chile’s police band has surprised crowds by playing AC/DC songs during the Changing of the Guard.
AC/DC’s music took over an unlikely stage this week: the Changing of the Guard ceremony in Santiago, Chile. On the morning of November 26, the Orfeón Nacional de Carabineros de Chile performed a full set of AC/DC staples in front of La Moneda Palace in Constitution Square.
The band, which represents the Chilean National Police, played AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’, ‘Back In Black’, and ‘Thunderstruck’. It marked the first time in its 96-year history that the group appeared with a full band setup, complete with electric guitars and drums.
The shift in instrumentation transformed the usually formal ceremony into something that immediately caught the attention of the crowd, including fans already preparing for AC/DC’s return to Chile in 2026.
Check out the videos of the performance below:
That upcoming run, part of the band’s Power Up 2026 tour, has already moved more than 100,000 tickets across two dates. AC/DC will hit Santiago again in March, performing at Parque Estadio Nacional. The Aussie legends are currently blazing their way through Australia, having already hit Melbourne and Sydney for two shows each, and are gearing up to play the bp Adelaide Grand Final this Sunday.
For the Orfeón Nacional de Carabineros de Chile, the performance was another chapter in what has been a nearly century-long role as a cultural representative of the institution. The group has toured throughout Chile for decades, becoming a presence across multiple generations while also bringing its repertoire to audiences in Latin America and Europe.
Its routine participation in the Changing of the Guard is one of its longest-standing duties, although it’s not usually accompanied by such high voltage music (get it? AC/DC, High Voltage…I’m sorry, I’ll stop now).
