Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan Launches Custom Minecraft Realm ‘Vernearth’

Share

In an unexpected crossover, Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan has released his own custom Minecraft realm called ‘Vernearth.’

Slipknot co-founder Shawn “Clown” Crahan has dropped a massive surprise on the gaming world: a new, ambitious Minecraft realm called Vernearth. The project blends survival, player-versus-player combat, creative building spaces, and hardcore seasonal challenges, all in one shared digital realm.

Vernearth kicks off with four distinct game modes: Oblivion (the core survival realm), PvP/Event arenas, a creative Plotworld, and a seasonal hardcore Challenge Mode. Each mode serves a different kind of player, from explorers and PvP fighters to builders and hardcore achievement seekers. The team say the rollout will be staged, so not all modes may be live from day one.

Vernearth Game Modes

At the centre of it all sits Oblivion, Vernearth’s core world. Here, players roam a vast terrain filled with twisted, corrupted landscapes inspired by Crahan’s darker artistic vision, with corrupted “clown” inspired elements – so we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a few Slipknot easter eggs mixed in amongst it. Custom factions roam the land, and legendary capital cities (Raziel, Seniomsed and The City of Eternal) await discovery. The official Vernearth announcement calls it a world where “Oblivion blends the familiar with the surreal, and it is yours to explore right now.”

For those drawn to competition, the PVP/Event Server delivers arena combat with game modes like Last Man Standing and duels. Players earn a currency called “War,” unlocking exclusive cosmetics and gear in return for their performance.

On the creative side, Plotworld offers safe plots, limited access to building tools, and even monthly build contests culminating in a Hall of Fame showcase. It’s meant to give artists and builders a platform to leave their mark — or their tower — on a shared sandbox without the threat of PvP collapse.

Then there’s Challenge Mode, Vernearth’s hardcore test. Each 45-day season brings fresh, brutal mechanics under a distinct Slipknot-inspired theme. Players have only one life per season, and every decision – from which resources to gather to which enemies to confront – carries weight. Survive and you’ll earn exclusive titles, cosmetics, Hall of Heroes placement, and a share of the seasonal prize pool.

Behind the scenes Vernearth is powered by custom infrastructure rather than the standard Minecraft server templates. The Slipknot co-founder’s team insists the world is handcrafted and deeply coded for stability, atmosphere, and player-driven storytelling. As their announcement explained, the ultimate goal is not just grinding for loot, but building shared memories: “the moment you discover a hidden city. The rush of a final duel. The satisfaction of completing a build that took weeks.”

Vernearth is now open, with early players already exploring its depths. It’s safe to say a decent chunk of them are massive Slipknot fans keen to explore Crahan’s world, but given how in-depth Vernearth is it’s also drawn a lot of Minecraft players interested in checking out what’s on offer.

Time to start mining, Maggots. You can check out all the info and join the Discord server here.
