Yungblud’s appearance at the IDOLS Behind The Gallery exhibition in Sydney today has wrapped up after cops told the gathering to move on, likely due to the sheer numbers in attendance.
Trust Yungblud to start a fan frenzy anywhere he goes (and for good reason): his planned meetup at Behind The Gallery’s YUNGBLUD: IDOLS photo exhibition by Tom Pallant today has wrapped up after cops told the gathering to move on.
Taking to his Instagram fan channel with a voice note, the star gave an update on exactly what went down in Newtown. “Yo guys, I love you so much, thank you for coming out. That got a bit fuckin’ hectic, didn’t it? The cops said we had to move on because it was just getting fucking mad,” he said.
Yungblud previously told fans to come along to the exhibition’s first official viewing day, confirming he’d be making an appearance at 12:30pm. Given the voice note update was sent at 1:42pm local time, it’s safe to say it didn’t last too long, but it was all love based on what he had to say about it.
“I love you all, and I can’t wait I’ll see you Saturday. Enjoy Tom’s exhibition, go in, look at the photos. They’re really beautiful, he did really well. Love you guys.”
It’s not clear exactly what prompted the move on order for Yungblud and his fans, but it’s likely due to the sheer numbers in attendance. Behind The Gallery’s Instagram story this morning showed fans (AKA the Black Hearts Club) lining up to catch a glimpse of the musician ahead of his show in Sydney on Saturday – some of whom had begun lining up from 6:30am.

The world-exclusive exhibition itself, titled YUNGBLUD: IDOLS, runs officially from today until Sunday via Behind The Gallery at 551 King St, Newtown. It showcases British photographer Tom Pallant’s work, capturing Yungblud over the past 18 months through personal snapshots and major moments of his massive latest chapter. Entry is free, and the exhibition space will also hold an album listening party and pre-show fan meetup ahead of his first show of the Aussie tour at Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday.
While Yungblud’s appearance today was brief, based on Behind The Gallery’s Instagram stories from last night, he did also pop in for an early preview yesterday ahead of the official opening.
If you’re in another state and missed out on getting up close and personal with the artist ahead of his tour, he’s known for impromptu fan meetups, so we could be in for more as he makes his way around the country. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any other updates.
