If you ever needed proof that the Grammys can still occasionally get something right, here it is: Turnstile just walked away with two wins at the 2026 Grammy Awards, taking out Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Album in the same night.
The Baltimore genre benders won Best Metal Performance for the track ‘Birds’, while their record Never Enough claimed Best Rock Album, two trophies, two categories, and a big, flashing sign that heavy music doesn’t have to stay in one lane to hit hard.

Turnstile were nominated for five awards total this year, so the band was already having a massive week on paper, but taking home two of the biggest rock/metal wins at the ceremony is next level validation for a band that’s spent years being too punk for the metal kids and too heavy for the indie crowd.
Turns out that’s exactly where the magic lives.
Seeing Turnstile’s name printed next to legacy acts in the nominee pools just shows how far they’ve pushed their sound into the mainstream without sanding off the edges.

2026 Best Metal Performance Nominees
This year’s nominees (per Loudwire) were almost exclusively bands who released their first album within the last 15 years, with prog metal legends Dream Theater being the lone exception.

- Turnstile, “Birds”
Of the bunch, only Dream Theater and Ghost have previously earned a Grammy.
2026 Best Rock Album Nominees
Turnstile went up against some heavy hitters on their first win of the night.
Here were the Best Rock Album nominees:
- Deftones, Private Music
- Haim, I Quit
- Linkin Park, From Zero
- Turnstile, Never Enough
- Yungblud, Idols
With Deftones and Linkin Park in the mix, this wasn’t a soft category win either, Turnstile didn’t just show up, they out did some seasoned veterans.
