Motionless in White have officially hit a new career milestone.
Pennsylvania metalcore heavyweights Motionless In White have landed their first ever No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart with their latest single, ‘Afraid of the Dark’.
After debuting at No. 8 last week, the track surged straight to the top on the February 14th dated chart, driven by its first full seven day tracking period, according to Luminate, ‘Afraid of the Dark’ pulled in 2.1 million official US streams, reached 18,000 listeners through radio airplay, and shifted 2,000 digital sales in the week ending February 5th.
Those numbers marked a sharp jump from the song’s opening days following its January 28th release, where it logged 604,000 streams, 8,000 in airplay reach, and 1,000 sales in its first two days alone, momentum clearly carried through, pushing the band to the top of a chart they’ve been circling for years.
The No. 1 spot is a first for Motionless in White since the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart launched in 2020, until now, their highest placement had been No. 5 with ‘Masterpiece’ in 2022, the band has charted 13 songs on the ranking, including six top 10 entries, making this moment feel earned rather than sudden.
The track also debuted at No. 17 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, marking Motionless in White’s highest placement there to date, at the same time, ‘Afraid of the Dark’ is spending a second consecutive week at No. 1 on Hard Rock Digital Song Sales, becoming the band’s third chart topper in that category following ‘Timebomb’ and ‘Masterpiece’.
‘Afraid of the Dark’ stands as a standalone single at the moment, following 2022’s ‘Scoring the End of the World’, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart and has since accumulated 406,000 equivalent album units.
