Manchester metallic hardcore crew Guilt Trip have wasted no time this year, surprise releasing a new three track EP ‘God Forgives‘.
Alongside it comes a two part video for ‘Dirt’ and ‘Angel Eyes’, landing as a sharp reminder that this band are pushing far beyond UK underground status, the EP bundles two brand new cuts, ‘Dirt’ and ‘Angel Eyes’, plus a fresh mix of ‘Burn’.
Frontman Jay Valentine describes God Forgives as a turning point (per press release):
“God Forgives is a culmination of progress and the embodiment of Guilt Trip’s identity, whilst consciously trying to build on the style and songwriting on Severance we are yet embracing and moving with the sound we achieved on that record,” he says. “The songs were written with one thing in mind: ‘Make it better’ and we hope we have hit the mark for every Guilt Trip fan out there.”
If Severance established their bruising intent, this EP sharpens it, with the riffs feeling tighter, the grooves heavier, and there’s a confidence that suggests the band are gearing up for something bigger.
A Visual One-Two Punch
The accompanying video pairs ‘Dirt’ and ‘Angel Eyes’ into a single narrative piece rather than a standard live room clip:
“It was birthed by a mix of transitioning lyrical themes into visuals and original ideas that we felt best represented the subject matter metaphorically,” Valentine explains.
“We wanted to show something other than just a live performance — a story that could entertain while relating to the music and still convey a message but be open enough for the watcher to make their own interpretations.”
