Arch Enemy seem to be teasing a reunion with former vocalist Angela Gossow after sharing cryptic teasers on social media.
Swedish death metal group Arch Enemy are gearing up for their next chapter, and it seems that it may include a reunion with former vocalist Angela Gossow.
Last November, the group parted ways with Alissa White-Gluz, who had served as frontwoman for 12 years. She had joined the band in 2014 after Gossow stepped back to focus on family. Gossow would write that she was “passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I’ve known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years,” but remained Arch Enemy’s manager.
But now it’s looking like Gossow might be gearing up to step back into the role. This week, fans noticed that both Arch Enemy and Gossow shared the same cryptic teaser and blacked out their social media pages. It’s not unusual for bands to wipe their social media clean to prepare for an all-new era of music, which only fuels fans’ speculation.
As the teaser also shows a torch being carried around, fans hope this is a callback to Gossow’s “passing the torch” statement, with it returning to her.
Fans have also connected these teasers to comments Gossow made in 2018, which hinted at unfinished business and expressed interest in starting a new extreme metal project.
While nothing’s been confirmed yet, the news is giving fans a lifeline of hype after White-Gluz’s sudden departure in November last year.
Right now, the band’s website fills the screen with a grey loading screen with the message: “[Reconnecting] Please Wait.” So it certainly seems like a major announcement regarding the band is on the way.
As for White-Gluz herself, the former singer quickly dropped her new song, ‘The Room Where She Died‘, taken from her upcoming debut solo album, which remains untitled as of writing.
