Someone’s sure sorry about something in this new series from executive producers the Duffer brothers.
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer are on executive producer duties on this one, along with Baby Reindeer director Weronika Tofilska, but the creator and showrunner is Halley Z. Boston, who worked on Brand New Cherry Flavour and wrote an episode of Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities, both of which were pretty great, so let’s see what she’s got for us now.
Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen Teaser
What’s the plot?
As the official synopsis tells us:
If Carrie is horror’s version of a girl becoming a woman, and Rosemary’s Baby is the horrific version of a woman becoming a mother, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen is horror’s take on a woman becoming a wife. Rachel (Morrone) is getting married in five days. Together with her fiancé, Nicky (DiMarco), she embarks on a road trip to his family’s vacation home, secluded in a snowy forest, for the intimate wedding ceremony of their dreams. Which really would be so lovely, except … prone to superstition and paranoia, Rachel can’t shake the relentless feeling that something bad is going to happen. Her foreboding doubts, coupled with a series of eerie coincidences and dreadful surprises, force her to ask the question: What makes two people soulmates? And worse — what could be scarier than lifelong commitment to the wrong person?
…and that’s your lot, I’m afraid. Thin gruel, indeed. Showrunner Haley Z. Boston describes the tone as “…unsettling, getting-under-your-skin dread” pitched “…somewhere between Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby – with threads of humor, absurdity, tension, and paranoia.” So that sounds good.
