La Dispute Announce 2026 Australian ‘No One Was Driving The Car’ Tour

Michigan post-hardcore outfit La Dispute are heading back to Australia in October 2026, bringing their new album ‘No One Was Driving The Car’ to stages across the country for a national headline run.

The tour kicks off at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Friday, October 16th before rolling through Frankston, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, Brisbane’s own Special Features will join the entire run.

‘No One Was Driving The Car’ was released last September (2025) via Epitaph Records and marked La Dispute’s first full length in six years, following 2019’s ‘Panorama’, entirely self-produced, the record took shape across Grand Rapids and Detroit, as well as sessions in the UK, Australia and the Philippines.

“I think the change in environment was really helpful to breathing new life into the process each time we came back to it,” vocalist Jordan Dreyer said of the album’s creation (via press release).

Inspired in part by Paul Schrader’s 2017 psychological thriller First Reformed, the record wrestles with spiritual fatigue, technological dread and the slow creep of modern disconnection, its title stems from a news report Dreyer read about a fatal self driving Tesla crash.

“it felt apt as metaphor then (increasingly so since), not just for contemporary life generally, but for so many responses to it: how each of us thrust unwillingly and chaotically alive, to hurtle down some road toward death, look amidst uncertainty for faith someone or something outside ourselves helps steer the way.”

Sonically, it’s La Dispute at their most sharpened. Dreyer moves between primal yells and restrained melody, while the guitars cut harder, framing stories of fractured relationships, intrusive memories and existential drift.

Importantly, six of the seven Australian dates are all ages or licensed all ages, something the band see as essential.

“All of us were underage when we first started going to local shows at home in West Michigan… it’s been a priority always to keep our doors open to all comers where possible, so that anyone—including (or especially, really) younger people—have the same opportunities afforded to us at a crucial age.”

For a band built on community and catharsis, that access still matters.
