Groovin The Moo Returns In 2026 With One Off Lismore Show

Share

After a period of uncertainty, Groovin The Moo is officially back.

The iconic regional festival will return in 2026 for a one off show in Lismore on May 9th, presented as part of Great Southern Nights.

Set for Oakes Oval on Widjabul/Wia-bal Country, the all ages event marks the first step in what organisers describe as a long term, sustainable rebuild of the beloved touring festival. Rather than a multi stop run, this year will focus on a single stage, single day format in the Northern Rivers.

First launched in 2005, Groovin The Moo carved out a vital space for regional Australia, delivering major line-ups outside capital cities and helping shape live music memories for two decades.

“This is about bringing Groovin The Moo back in a way that honours what it has always stood for,” said Adelle Robinson, CEO of Fuzzy (per press release).

“The festival belongs to regional Australia. Returning with a one-off show allows us to focus on doing it with the care and responsibility it deserves while the festival industry continues to navigate rising costs and increased pressure. We are so thrilled to come to Lismore, a place that reflects the spirit and resilience of the communities that Groovin The Moo has supported from the beginning.”

NSW Government backed

Backed by the NSW Government through Destination NSW and in partnership with ARIA, the event also aims to deliver tangible impact locally, Lismore was selected for both its creative identity and the challenges the region has faced in recent years.

ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd called the return “a genuinely special moment for Australian music,” adding that GTM has long been “a rite of passage for artists and fans.”

Importantly, the festival will partner with Our Kids as official charity partner, donating $2 from every ticket sold to support children and families in the Northern Rivers needing medical care.

The 2026 artist line-up is yet to be revealed, but ticket tiers and presale details have been confirmed.
