Bad//Dreems Launch Gather Sounds Festival During AFL Gather Round

Share

Bad//Dreems have announced Gather Sounds, a brand new two day Adelaide music festival set to land during AFL Gather Round this April.

Inspired by their hometown and the annual footy influx that sees more than 50,000 fans flood the city, the Adelaide rock staples Bad//Dreems are turning that spotlight toward local and independent music instead.

“Gather Round has been great for Adelaide and we saw it as a unique opportunity to spotlight and celebrate local and independent music,” said guitarist Alex Cameron (per Rolling Stone).

A Two Day Takeover – April 10th and 11th

Gather Sounds will run Friday, April 10th and Saturday, April 11th at UniBar and the Cloisters, Adelaide.

Friday night doubles as the official launch for Bad//Dreems’ upcoming album ‘Ultra Dundee’, with support from fellow Adelaide favourites West Thebarton.

Saturday expands into a full two stage mini festival running from 2pm–12am, with Bad//Dreems digging into their catalogue and throwing in a few classic Aussie covers with friends, they’ll be joined by headliners Beddy Rays and Phil Jamieson, alongside Caitlin Harnett & the Pony Boys, Dr. Piffle & the Burlap Band, The Empty Threats, Jack Griffith, Don’t Thank Me Spank Me, and more.

Tickets are on sale now here.

New Single ‘Irish Airman’

The announcement lands alongside ‘Irish Airman’, the third single from Bad//Dreems’ fifth studio album, ‘Ultra Dundee’, due for release this Friday, March 20th.

Following earlier cuts ‘Shadowland’ and the title track, ‘Irish Airman’ draws from the WB Yeats poem An Irish Airman Foresees His Death.

“An initial recording was made during the Lockdown with John Lee, an amazing producer who has made great albums with artists like Lost Animal and Laura Jean,” Cameron said.

“As is often the case we found it hard to replicate what was captured on this recording, so we ended up using many elements of it, in addition to what we recorded in Adelaide at Mixmasters.”

Produced with Dan Luscombe at Mixmasters Studios and released via the band’s own Gutto Records, ‘Ultra Dundee’ continues the thread that began with ‘Dogs at Bay’.
