Midwest emo icons American Football have announced their new album, LP4, will be releasing May 1st via Polyvinyl Records.
American Football is primed to release their fourth studio album, six years after their previous release.
The emo outfit confirmed via social media that LP4 is due to release on May 1 via Polyvinyl Records. Unfortunately, they haven’t shared any new music from the album, but they did share the cover art and the full tracklist.

American Football’s fourth album follows after drummer Steven Lamos rejoined the band after leaving in 2021 to focus on their teaching career.
Their previous album, released in 2019, LP3, was a landmark for the band, going toe-to-toe with their seminal debut, widely regarded as the most influential Midwest emo album of all time. It would also feature a wide range of guest collaborators, including Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, Slowdive vocalist Elisabeth Goswell, and Land of Talk member Elizabeth Powell.
In 2024, the band would release a 25th-anniversary reissue of their 1999 self-titled album, featuring covers of their tracks by Ethel Cain, Iron & Wine, Manchester Orchestra, and more.
Along with news that another album is imminent, American Football also confirmed an extensive 2026 tour with dates in North America, Europe, and the UK, featuring support from Mei Semones, Ian Sweet, Marconi Union, and Afternoon Bike Ride. The band will also announce that they will donate $1, £ 1, or € 1 from each ticket to Safe Passage International and the Illinois Coalition for Immigration and Refugee Rights.
The four-piece group are set to play their first show on May 15 in Denver, Colorado, at the Summit Music Hall. So fans will have only two weeks to absorb the new material before attending one of their shows.
