Zendaya, Sydney, Jake and company are back for another season of drama and debauchery.
It’s been almost four years since we last checked in with the troubled students of HBO’s Euphoria. That’s a long time between drinks – or bumps of coke or whatever it is they’re into. Euphoria sits outside my cultural sensorum; no shade involved, I just get the strong impression it’s stridently not For Me, and that’s cool. It very well might be For You, though; it seems a lot of people dig it. All I know is every character seems to be high as balls and unquenchably horny at all times, which maps onto my experience of high school, a time when the edgiest stuff we ever got was The Breakfast Club. There’s a generational disconnect, is what I’m saying. Anyway, here’s the trailer.
Euphoria Season 3 Trailer
What’s the plot?
All the official synopsis has for us is “Euphoria follows a group of childhood friends who wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption and the problem of evil.” But it’s really always been a vibes kinda show, anyway, so anything plot-related was always gonna be a big ask.
Who’s in it?
- Zendaya as Ruby “Rue” Bennett: addict, train wreck, and our protagonist and narrator.
- Maude Apatow as Alexis “Lexi” Howard, Rue’s childhood best friend and Cassie’s younger sister.
- Jacob Elordi as Nathaniel “Nate” Jacobs, a star high school football player now married to Cassie.
- Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn, a transgender girl, Rue’s on-and-off girlfriend, and now a sex worker.
- Sydney Sweeney as Cassandra “Cassie” Howard, Lexi’s older sister, Maddy’s best friend, and McKay’s ex-girlfriend with an infamous sexual history that continues to haunt her.
- Colman Domingo as Ali Muhammed a man in recovery from drug addiction who often speaks at Rue’s Narcotics Anonymous meetings and eventually becomes her sponsor and mentor.
- Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, Nate’s closeted bisexual dad.
- Storm Reid as Gia Bennett, Rue’s younger sister.
- Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Alamo.
