PREMIERE: Deadheat Release ‘Ready Set Go’ Sunshine Coast Punks Kick Off New Era

Share

There’s something loose, loud, and unapologetically fun coming out of the Sunshine Coast right now, and Deadheat are right in the middle of it.

The new Deadheat single ‘Ready Set Go’ doesn’t officially land until tomorrow, but we’ve got it right here, right now exclusively on Blunt, and yeah it hits exactly how you’d want it to.

A shot of pure skate punk energy

‘Ready Set Go’ feels like it was built for sticky floors and blown out speakers, it’s fast, hooky, and doesn’t overthink itself for a second, think Tony Hawk era punk DNA with just enough modern polish to keep it sharp without sanding off the edges.

Deadheat have always leaned into that sweet spot, not trying to reinvent punk, just reminding you why it works in the first place.

Deadheat – Watto (Back Left) , Ricardo (Front Left),  Brad (Back Right) , Drew (Front Right).

Formed in 2012, the four piece group are made up of Watto (vox/guitar), Brad (guitar/vox), Drew (bass), Ricardo (drums) and have carved out their own lane in the underground by sticking to what matters, big riffs with even bigger hooks.

Built for the pit

This track isn’t chasing algorithms, it’s built for movement. You can hear it straight away, it’s the kind of song that’ll go off live, where the chorus lands and suddenly the room shifts, it’s the same energy that’s carried through their 2024 EP It’s Not a Phase, Mum, where they doubled down on catchy songwriting without losing that scrappy edge.

Deadheat don’t take themselves too seriously, and that’s the point.

If ‘Ready Set Go’ is anything to go by, they’re not slowing down anytime soon, this is punk at its most effective, fast, loud, and built to be played again before the song’s even finished.
