Marvel’s murderous antihero returns in a hail of bullets in The Punisher: One Last Kill
We only just saw our old friend, remorseless massacre machine Frank Castle, in the record-breaking first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it sure was something to see the Punisher hanging out with Tom Holland‘s Spidey. Before that, he was stacking bodies in the first season of the superb Daredevil: Born Again. But set between the two there’s The Punisher: One Last Kill, and here’s our first plot-light, violence-heavy trailer.
The Punisher: One Last Kill Trailer
What’s the plot?
As the official synopsis tells us:
In the special, Frank searches for meaning beyond revenge, when an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.
Which isn’t much to go by.
But looking at the trailer, it seems Frank is wrestling with some mental health issues – he’s hallucinating his old friend Curtis Hoyle for one thing, and word is his late daughter Lisa shows up at some point too. But there’s nothing better to snap you out of your funk then witnessing what looks like an attempted child kidnapping, and it isn’t long before Frank is back in his skull livery.
Who’s in it?
- Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, your friendly neighbourhood Punisher, dedicated to blowing away criminal scum ever since the murder of his family. Although he vacillates on this a lot in the MCU continuity – comic book Frank ain’t got no brakes.
- Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle, a hallucination of Frank’s old mate, a former U.S. Navy SARC and leader of a therapy group
- Roe Rancell as Dennis.
- Mila Jaymes as Charli.
When’s it out?
The Punisher: One Last Kill premieres on May 13 at 11AM AEST, exclusively on Disney+.
What’s the vibe?
I love Jon Benthal‘s Punisher, and frankly it can’t be worse than his earlier eponymous series. And word is fan fave villain Ma Gnucci is showing up, so that should be fun.
