Volbeat Land 13th No. 1 With ‘Demonic Depression’

Share

Volbeat aren’t just holding their lane anymore, they’re rewriting the scoreboard while they’re at it, and somehow, they’ve managed to break their own record in the process.

Volbeat have scored their 13th No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart with ‘Demonic Depression’, tightening their grip as the most successful non-North American band in the chart’s history.

They already held the record, and now they’ve pushed it further out of reach the Danish heavyweights previously hit No. 1 with ‘Time Will Heal’ and ‘By a Monster’s Hand’, both pulled from their ninth album, ‘God Of Angels Trust’, released June 6th last year.

That record has quietly become a machine for radio dominance, stacking chart wins while the band keeps touring like it’s business as usual.

Climbing into elite territory

With 13 chart toppers, Volbeat now sit alongside names like Van Halen, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Godsmack, and Papa Roach for the sixth most No. 1s since the chart launched in 1981, that’s not just impressive for an international act, it’s rare air for any band operating in heavy music.

They first set the benchmark back in 2020 with ‘Die To Live’, and haven’t really slowed down since, if anything, the last few years have seen them double down on the mix of rockabilly swagger and metal crunch that’s kept them radio friendly without sanding off the edges.

Still outsiders, still leading

What makes this run sting for everyone else is that Volbeat are still doing it as outsiders, with no North American home base and no need to pivot their identity to fit the format, they’ve built a global audience on their own terms, stacking over 145 gold and platinum certifications along the way.

At this point, the numbers aren’t just stats, they’re a pattern, and right now, Volbeat are still the band to beat.
