Motionless In White have officially kicked open the crypt door on their next era.
Scranton metal juggernaut Motionless In White have announced their seventh studio album, ‘Decades’, arriving July 17th via Roadrunner Records, alongside the release of blistering new single ‘Playing God’ featuring Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.
For a band that’s spent more than two decades welding together metalcore, industrial noise, goth theatrics, and arena sized hooks, ‘Decades’ feels less like a reinvention and more like Motionless In White sharpening the blade they’ve already been carrying for years.
The new track wastes no time either, ‘Playing God’ swings hard, built on jagged riffs and venom spitting vocals, with Corey Taylor sounding absolutely feral across his guest spot.
Motionless In White ‘Playing God’ ft. Corey Taylor lyric video
‘I can’t believe how aggressive Corey sounds,’ Chris Motionless said (per press release). ‘It’s an observational commentary on toxic internet culture and the people who perpetuate it. The internet has gotten worse and worse to the point where only negativity, hatred, and lies are at the forefront of everything you see. It’s very frustrating because I thought social media was supposed to be a mechanism to connect, but all it does is divide.’
The album also ropes in appearances from Skylar Grey and Dark Divine vocalist Anthony Martinez, while producers Drew Fulk and Justin ‘JD’ deBlieck helped shape the record across sessions in Upstate New York and Los Angeles.
Chris says the record leans heavier than some of the band’s recent material, fuelled by the frustration and tension of the current world around them.
‘We were never afraid to take risks,’ he explained. ‘This band has not only lasted two decades, but we’ve also outlasted all of the obstacles we’ve faced.’
