Metalcore heroes Of Mice & Men recently cancelled a string of European tour dates, as frontman Austin Carlile‘s health took a turn for the worst. Carlile has never been any less than transparent with fans surrounding his various health issues, which have weighed the 29-year-old down throughout his entire life.
Last week, Carlile updated fans on the severity of his latest setback via Twitter, filling us in with some brief details of what seems to be the most serious run of procedures he’s needed to undergo since his open-heart operation five years ago. “Will be doing something called ‘blood patching’,” he wrote, “to fix the three major tears currently in my spine.”
“Fucking gnarly” doesn’t even come close.
Carlile is shaping up well, though, his optimism shining through as he writes, “God has a purpose for me in this [and] I will fight through it with him no matter how long it takes.” Support has also come through in the form of gifts sent by DC Comics and Linkin Park, which he detailed on his Instagram.
Of Mice & Men are set to make their way Down Under in December for a string of arena shows with A Day To Remember. We at BLUNT HQ are wishing Carlile and his family all the best, and hope to see the deadset legend in top form when he crushes us all come the end of the year.
