After years of speculation, delays and collector frenzy, the long lost Slipknot side project “Look Outside Your Window” is finally getting the wide release fans have been waiting for.
Originally issued as a limited Record Store Day vinyl exclusive last month, the elusive project, created by members Corey Taylor, M. Shawn Crahan, Jim Root and Sid Wilson, will now receive a full commercial release on June 12th.
The album, recorded during downtime sessions while Slipknot worked on 2008’s All Hope Is Gone, has long been one of metal’s most talked about unreleased projects, unlike the chaos and aggression typically associated with Slipknot, Look Outside Your Window leans into a far more experimental, atmospheric and alternative driven sound.
The project arrives as a standalone release rather than under the Slipknot name, reinforcing what the band have said for years, this is something entirely different.
Fans will be able to grab the album across multiple physical editions, including a series of highly limited collector vinyl variants alongside a CD release. Among the available formats are Blue Transparent Leaf-Filled LP (limited to 250), Clear Purple LP (500), Bubblegum Pink LP (1000), a Silver Nugget Revolver exclusive (500), Golden Pearl Hot Topic exclusive (750), Eco Black LP and a Digipak CD.
The expanded rollout follows the swift sellout of the Record Store Day pressing, which reignited hype around the long shelved sessions.
For longtime followers, this marks the end of one of Slipknot’s most persistent pieces of lore, a record teased for nearly two decades, spoken about in interviews and often compared sonically to acts far removed from the band’s usual sonic brutality.
Now, after sitting in the vault for nearly 18 years, Look Outside Your Window is finally stepping into the light.
