Faith No More Confirm 2027 Return, And Australia Is On The List

Share

After sending the internet into meltdown with a simple social post reading “2027”, Faith No More bassist Bill Gould has now confirmed the band’s long awaited live return is officially happening, and Australian fans are firmly in the plans.

Speaking on the Rock Talk podcast, Faith No More bassist Gould removed much of the mystery surrounding the teaser and revealed the band’s comeback timeline:

“We’re gonna do it. We’re gonna play. We’re definitely going to be in Europe. We’re definitely going to be in South America, and Australia, and the US… I think probably our shows will start around like January or February next year.”

If those dates happen, the shows would mark Faith No More’s first live performances in more than a decade and their first appearances since 2016.

An uncertain future

The announcement also closes the loop on years of uncertainty surrounding the band’s future, Faith No More originally planned to return to stages in 2020 before those plans were delayed by the pandemic and later cancelled altogether in 2021 after frontman Mike Patton stepped back from performing to focus on his mental health.

At the time, Patton explained:

“Sorry to report that due to mental health reasons, I cannot continue with the currently scheduled Faith No More and Mr. Bungle dates.”

The remaining members later released a statement backing the decision, saying Mike’s wellbeing mattered more than returning to touring.

The future of the group has remained difficult to read, with comments from both Patton and the band across 2024/25 suggesting uncertainty, with drummer Mike Bordin later stating that Patton had shifted from being unable to perform to being unwilling to perform with the band.

No official dates have been announced yet and there’s still no confirmation on venues or tour routing but Australia is no longer wishful thinking, we are part of the plan.
