Korn’s latest merch drop has sparked an unexpected debate online, and it’s got less to do with nostalgia and more to do with how the products were presented.
The band recently launched a new Issues Doll Keychain Blind Box, a collectible series inspired by the alternate artwork variations from their landmark 1999 album Issues (per Lambgoat).
The release featured four plush keychain variants and was sold as a mystery blind-box format, with buyers receiving one random version per purchase, but shortly after appearing on Korn’s official store, fans began questioning the promotional imagery.
Discussion quickly spread across Reddit and social platforms after users pointed out what they believed were unusual design inconsistencies visible on the product box mockups, including misspellings and distorted lettering that some interpreted as signs of AI-generated artwork.

At the centre of the criticism is an important distinction: at this stage, there’s no confirmation that any issues appear on the physical product itself, the concerns raised online appear to focus specifically on the promotional mockups shown during the product launch rather than confirmed packaging sent to customers.
The collectible itself was positioned as a limited release, retailing for $25 USD (approx. $35.55 AUD) per blind box, with each purchase containing one random plush keychain from four available colourways: Original, Pink, Maroon Brown and Black.
Store rules also capped purchases at four units per customer, with orders above that threshold flagged for cancellation and refund, the discussion arrives at a time when AI usage across music and merch continues to divide audiences.
For some fans, AI-assisted mockups are increasingly viewed as cutting corners in a space traditionally tied to visual identity and artist presentation, others questioned whether online reaction may be getting ahead of confirmed information.
At the time of writing, Korn have not publicly addressed the discussion surrounding the imagery, the blind box release has since sold out. My biggest issue? Missing out on one.
