Twin Atlantic Announce New Album ‘Separation From The Animals’ And Open Their Most Personal Chapter Yet

Twin Atlantic are heading somewhere more personal this time.

Scottish rock band Twin Atlantic have announced their new album Separation From The Animals, arriving October 2nd, with frontman Sam McTrusty describing a body of work shaped by distance, reflection and finally confronting parts of life that had quietly followed him for years.

The record arrives after 2024’s Meltdown, but rather than simply pushing forward sonically, this project appears to turn inward.

Following completion of the last album cycle, McTrusty relocated to Toronto with his wife and children, a move that created both physical and emotional distance from the life he had known and ultimately opened a different lane creatively.

Reflecting on that shift, McTrusty explained (per Clashmusic):

“I’m from a family that’s fairly divided, so I’ve always been passed about from when I was six-months-old. It’s all I’ve ever known.

As you grow up, you start to view life through a different lens – especially the whole struggle of going from boy to man. My experience of that is particularly painful, emotional and confusing. But because it seemed normal at the time, it didn’t really hit me until I found my tribe, my people, my band. My entire adult life is meant to have been looking ahead but my personal life is always looking back. That baggage is basically what the whole band is about.”

That introspection sits at the centre of Separation From The Animals, a record positioned less as escape and more as release.

Twin Atlantic ‘In your Eyes’

Alongside the announcement, Twin Atlantic have shared new single In Your Eyes, a track that balances bright, driving rock energy against themes of emotional exhaustion and perspective.

Speaking on the song, McTrusty said:

“It’s about being at the other end of a relationship where you feel like no matter what you do, nothing is ever good enough. You take a step back and realise that in trying to appease that one person, you’ve blinded yourself to the fact that everything is great. Look outside of that window and life is much better.”

If the first taste is anything to go by, Twin Atlantic’s next era sounds bigger emotionally, and quieter in the places that matter.
