Melbourne’s annual celebration of all things extreme is officially locked in for another year.

Mark your calendars Brutefest will return to The Tote in Collingwood on April 24th, 2027, bringing together two internationally revered names for a night dedicated to blackened speed, chaos and volume.

Leading the charge are Norwegian black thrash veterans Aura Noir and American black ’n’ roll wrecking crew Midnight, who’ll unite for a special co-headlining appearance that doubles as a pair of major anniversary celebrations.

Three decades of Black Thrash Attack

For Aura Noir, the night marks three decades of Black Thrash Attack, the band’s landmark debut that helped define the filthy, aggressive collision of black metal and thrash for generations of underground listeners.

To celebrate, the band will perform the record in full in what shapes up as a rare and highly anticipated set.

Midnight are also arriving with unfinished business, after Australian scheduling conflicts prevented their planned 15th anniversary celebration of Satanic Royalty from making it to local stages, Brutefest 2027 will finally deliver the moment fans missed, with the Cleveland outfit performing the cult release in full to mark 16 years since its original release.

Together, the two performances turn Brutefest into more than another festival date on the calendar, this one feels built around legacy, honouring records that helped shape entire corners of extreme metal while giving local fans a chance to experience them live in full.

Held once again inside one of Melbourne’s most beloved heavy music institutions, The Tote, Brutefest continues to carve out its place as one of Australia’s most dedicated underground metal gatherings.

Additional lineup announcements are still to come, but the opening reveal already sets the tone: loud, uncompromising and unapologetically extreme.
