Bodyjar are keeping the momentum rolling.
After recently returning with Sound Of The Stereo, Melbourne punk veterans Bodyjar have now released the official video for the track, and it feels exactly like the kind of chaotic, nostalgic energy the song was built around.
Packed with the same offbeat humour and loose, unmistakably Bodyjar attitude fans have come to expect over the years, the clip leans into the spirit of the single rather than overcomplicating it.
Honestly? It fits. It’s a super fun one, check it out below.
Bodyjar ‘Sound Of The Stereo’ video
Released as the latest taste of what the band have been working on, Sound Of The Stereo taps into the moments that shaped a generation of music fans, long afternoons spent glued to speakers, making mixtapes and finding songs however you could.
For guitarist Tom Read, the inspiration came from watching his own kids experience music in a completely different way.
“Being in my late 40’s and having 3 boys, 2 of them teenagers, watching them growing up has brought up a lot of memories from our young days. The shit we used to do. How absolutely glued to the stereo I was. Making compilation tapes. Riding around with mates on our BMX’s and just goofing off.”
He added:
“Now the kids make playlists on their Spotify accounts that I pay for instead of recording the songs illegally off the radio, they don’t even have to pedal their bikes like we used to….!!!”
The contrast sits at the centre of the song, not a complaint about how things have changed, but a reminder that discovering music has always meant something, even if the format evolves.
The video arrives just as Bodyjar prepare to hit the road for their How It Still Works 25th Anniversary Australian Tour, fans can expect celebrations of one of Australian punk’s defining records alongside the kind of high energy sets that helped make Bodyjar a local institution.
