Arizona trap metal outfit Dropout Kings have unveiled the official music video for “Brace Yourself”, delivering a heartfelt tribute to late frontman Adam Ramey while celebrating the lasting impact he had on the band, their fans and the wider heavy music community.
The track appears on Yokai, Dropout Kings latest album and the final record to feature Ramey before his passing last May (2025), the album marked an emotional milestone for the Phoenix group, with current and former members joining forces to honour his legacy both on record and during a commemorative tour.
Rather than presenting a traditional performance clip, the new video blends concert footage, behind the scenes moments, home videos and live performances, offering an intimate look at Ramey’s life both on and off stage.
Speaking about the release, Dropout Kings said:
“Music. Friendship. Purpose. For these reasons and many more, we come together as people. We find time to create, not just for ourselves, but in hopes it brings joy and inspiration to others. We struggle to express what we feel as we struggle in feeling it, pushing towards a light we aren’t always sure is even there. Yet, the art has a way of compelling us to heal through the process of both sharing and listening. A way of making family out of strangers and dreams from suffering. New people we meet turn into old stories we tell as we grow closer together, becoming the best reminders of both where we came from and where we want to go. It’s in this spirit that we ask you to look back with us at and share what made us who we are and our beloved King who started it all. Our brother, Adam Ramey. Brace Yourselves.”

Yokai stands as one of the band’s most personal releases, capturing the signature collision of nu metal, rap and metalcore that helped establish Dropout Kings as pioneers of trap metal, while adding an emotional weight that reflects the band’s devastating loss.
Ramey completed work on the album shortly before his death at the age of 32, leaving behind a record that now serves as both a farewell and a celebration of his creative vision.
For longtime fans, the “Brace Yourself” video is more than another music release, it’s a reminder of the friendships, memories and community that continue to define Dropout Kings long after one of its founding voices was lost.
