Frontman Liam Guinane says the band can’t wait to bring the new material to Australian audiences:
“We are so excited to bring our new album to life on stages all around Australia. We’ve poured so much into this record, and we can’t wait to play these songs live for the very first time. We’re also so stoked to be bringing out The Pretty Wild for their Australian debut, along with a couple of our favourite Aussie artists. We hope to see you all there.”
Set for release just one week before the tour begins, Smile, You’re On Camera follows 2024’s HYPERVIOLENCE and is described as Windwaker’s most personal and focused release to date.
The band added:
“smile, you’re on camera is undeniably our best and most focused collection of songs to date. We learned so much making this record together, and we’re incredibly proud of what it’s become. It opens the door to who we are, and offers a glimpse into our world through the highs and the lows. It’s the most personal and honest Windwaker has ever been.”
New single “Closer” continues building momentum following the releases of “Victory Lap” and “Click.” Co-written in Los Angeles with acclaimed producer Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox, Dayseeker), the track explores the internal struggle between walking away from your dreams or continuing to push forward, wrapped in Windwaker’s signature blend of modern metal, industrial textures and infectious hooks.
The Australian tour follows a breakthrough year for the Melbourne outfit, which included their first-ever US headline tour, an appearance at Sonic Temple Festival, and upcoming support runs with Beartooth, Don Broco, Bury Tomorrow and Stick To Your Guns.
