Slipknot co-founder and percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan has unveiled the latest chapter of his ever expanding creative world, launching a new project called O’ Day Monster alongside an AI-generated music video for its debut single, ‘Un Life’.
The release arrives as part of the launch of Clown‘s newly revamped personal website, which he describes as a permanent home for the countless artistic disciplines he has explored throughout his career, both inside and outside of Slipknot (per Lamb Goat).
Rather than presenting O’ Day Monster as simply another musical outlet, Crahan says the project is the culmination of decades spent creating across multiple mediums:
“I’ve entered a time in my life where I wanted to create something I could conduct and drive, with words. I wanted to create the spaceship I could drive with my words.”

A long held ambition
He explains that the project has allowed him to realise a long-held ambition of hearing his lyrics interpreted by other voices while exploring deeply personal themes.
“I’ve always wanted to have someone sing my words with the conviction that the subject matter demanded.”
According to Crahan, O’ Day Monster centres on the ongoing internal struggle of “me against me”, describing it as both his “suffering, and salvation” throughout his life.
The accompanying video for ‘Un Life’ (above) embraces artificial intelligence as another tool in his creative arsenal. In his statement announcing the project, Crahan discusses his willingness to experiment with every available artistic medium, from painting and photography through to 3D animation, coding, modular synthesis and AI-generated imagery.
He also revealed that the new website will continue to grow as an archive of his work, giving fans direct access to the projects and ideas that have remained behind the scenes for years.
“This is where you get the unedited me. The no-filtered me. The no-paraphrasing me; you’ll get no lies from me.”
While best known as one of the driving creative forces behind Slipknot’s unmistakable visual identity, O’ Day Monster offers a more personal outlet for Crahan’s broader artistic vision. If ‘Un Life’ is the starting point, you can expect the project to continue expanding as he explores music, technology and visual art without creative boundaries.
