Kevin Smith’s iconic stoner duo are heading into the gaming world once again, but this time they’re swapping convenience stores for cannabis crops.
Announced during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Jay and Silent Bob‘s Joint Venture is a brand new “adult cozy farm sim” that puts the cult characters at the centre of a tongue in cheek marijuana farming adventure.
The game is being developed by newly launched indie publisher Nitrate Games and is currently targeting a 2027 release on PC via Steam.
Inspired by the relaxing gameplay loop made famous by titles like Stardew Valley and FarmVille, Joint Venture promises to deliver a far less wholesome experience.
Players will cultivate cannabis, build their business and encounter familiar faces from Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse along the way, with both Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes directly involved in the game’s development.
Kevin Smith’s announcement
As only Smith could, the filmmaker announced the project with his trademark humour:
“Since Jay and Silent Bob are the stars of this hilarious growing game, I cannot wait to play with myself. Many thanks to Nitrate Games for taking my little animals to this crossing and making them Stars Dew a Valley!”
The project also serves as one of the first major announcements from Nitrate Games, a new independent publisher founded by industry veterans Daniel Kendrick, Montana Sommese and Nick Madonna.
Between them, the trio bring experience spanning film, television and video games, having worked on major franchises including Godzilla, Sonic the Hedgehog, Star Wars, Justice League and SpongeBob SquarePants.
Kendrick says the company’s goal is to create games based on beloved properties that fans never expected to see adapted (per Hollywood Reporter):
“Our core mission is to make games that we wish existed when we were kids. We’re an independent game publisher with an eye toward creating unexpected takes on unique, beloved properties.”
Creative direction for Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture comes from Chase Marotz, while Ernie Altbacker is handling writing duties.
Although gameplay details remain under wraps, the reveal suggests fans can expect plenty of irreverent humour, familiar movie references and the laid-back chaos synonymous with Jay and Silent Bob. For longtime followers of Smith’s cult universe, it looks set to be one of the more unusual game releases arriving in 2027.
