Thy Art Is Murder Perform With Fill In Frontman As Tyler Miller Speculation Grows

Australian deathcore heavyweights Thy Art Is Murder have kicked off their European summer tour with a different face behind the microphone, adding fuel to ongoing speculation surrounding the future of vocalist Tyler Miller.

Rumours have been swirling for days after fans noticed Miller and the band no longer appeared to follow each other on social media, while the vocalist has remained absent from any recent band related posts. Neither side has publicly addressed the speculation.

Those questions have only intensified, When Thy Art Is Murder opened their European run at Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania on July 29th, Miller was nowhere to be seen (per Lamb Goat).

Instead, frontman duties were handled by Australian vocalist and rapper Jerry Grimefeld, who many fans will recognise from Honest Crooks and Vengeance.

Fan filmed footage from the festival quickly appeared online, showing Grimefeld leading the band through their crushing live set, it’s not the first time he’s stepped in having previously filled in for select performances earlier this year, but this marks the beginning of the band’s current European and UK run with him on vocals.

At the time of writing, Thy Art Is Murder have not commented on Miller’s absence or confirmed whether the lineup change is temporary or permanent.

Miller joined the Sydney deathcore outfit in 2023 following the departure of longtime frontman CJ McMahon, his arrival ushered in a new chapter for the band after one of the most talked about lineup changes in modern heavy music.

With a packed run of headline shows and major festival appearances still ahead, including Wacken Open Air, Brutal Assault, Alcatraz Festival, Dynamo Metalfest and Summer Breeze, fans will be watching closely to see whether Grimefeld remains behind the mic for the duration of the tour.

Until the band officially addresses the situation, the status of Tyler Miller remains unclear. For now, the only certainty is that Thy Art Is Murder are pressing ahead with their European dates while one of Australian metal’s biggest current questions continues to unfold.
