The legendary Australian satirists have unveiled what they’re calling the first ever Tasmanian Devils team list, and, true to form, it’s exactly the kind of gloriously absurd publicity stunt fans have come to expect.
Released ahead of the band’s newly added October 1st performance at Hobart’s Odeon Theatre, the fictional team sheet blends AFL references, political satire, controversial public figures and trademark TSIM humour into one deliberately outrageous lineup.
The band joked that while the side is “chock-full with talent”, it’s “not without controversy”, before offering tongue in cheek explanations for several selections.

Inclusions
Among the more eyebrow raising inclusions are former AFL players, politicians, corporations and historical figures, alongside TSIM themselves, with the band cheekily listing their own inclusion as being for “crimes against music”.
Elsewhere, the mock team announcement takes aim at everything from environmental issues and Australian politics to football controversies and media personalities, all delivered in the irreverent style that has defined TSIM for decades.
Even the fictional support staff don’t escape the satire, while the “legal department” listed for media enquiries is, unsurprisingly, somewhere no-one is likely to find.
The stunt doubles as a promotional push for the Hobart leg of the band’s long awaited No Mistakes Tour, with “team jumpers” set to be distributed at the Odeon Theatre on the night.

First headline tour in over 30 years
The Hobart performance is the latest addition to a national run that marks TSIM’s first headline tour in more than 30 years. Following strong demand, the band has steadily expanded the tour, previously adding extra shows in Melbourne and Adelaide before locking in the Tasmanian stop.
Beginning later this month at the Darwin Festival, the tour will then head through Hobart, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Sydney.
As they’ve repeatedly promised, no two TSIM shows will be the same. Instead of following a fixed setlist, each performance will feature a different selection of songs from across the band’s extensive catalogue, alongside the unpredictable sketches, satire and audience interaction that have earned them a cult following over the past three decades.
For a band that has built its reputation on poking fun at almost everyone, the “Tasmanian Devils” team announcement is another reminder that, when it comes to TSIM, absolutely nobody is safe.
