Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson has grounded his PJ AIR solo tour following an on-stage accident at The Deck in Traralgon, with Saturday night’s Bundalaguah show postponed.
Phil Jamieson played The Deck Traralgon on Friday, August 7. By Saturday morning, he had confirmed that an accident during the show had stopped the tour in its tracks.
“Dearest friends, due to an on-stage accident last night in Traralgon, PJAIR has been unexpectedly grounded,” Jamieson wrote. He said more information would come in the next few days as his team worked with venues to update ticket holders.
No further detail came with the statement. Neither Jamieson nor his management has publicly confirmed the nature or severity of the injury, while reports that he is in hospital remain unverified.
Jamieson was due to play Live at the Bundy in Bundalaguah on Saturday, August 8. The venue postponed — rather than cancelled — the show after speaking with management and began contacting ticket holders.
In a Facebook video, the Bundy team said it believed Jamieson had “fractured a C1 lumbar”. It said the incident occurred as he crossed the stage to greet the guitarist.
The Venue’s “C1 Lumbar” Description Cannot Be Anatomically Correct
C1, also known as the atlas, is the first cervical vertebra and sits at the top of the neck beneath the skull. The lumbar vertebrae are in the lower back and run from L1 to L5. A vertebra cannot be both C1 and lumbar.
Later in the video, the venue called it a lower-back injury. That suggests it may have meant L1, but until Jamieson or his management provides a diagnosis, the exact injury remains unknown.

Jamieson’s Next Scheduled Show Is Sunday Night In Balnarring
After Balnarring’s Social Club on August 9, the PJ AIR itinerary has Jamieson at Crowbar in Brisbane on August 13 and Shotkickers in Melbourne on August 14. No further dates have been formally postponed, but it is not yet clear when the tour will resume.
The tour supports Jamieson’s second solo album, 10Charlie, which is due out on August 14. His team has asked ticket holders to watch for updates from the venues while it works through the remaining dates.
