Thy Art Is Murder appear ready to waste no time with their latest lineup change, with new vocalist Jerry Grimefeld revealing that he is heading into the studio with the Australian deathcore heavyweights.
Grimefeld was officially unveiled as Thy Art Is Murder‘s new frontman last month following the departure of Tyler Miller, bringing another significant change to the microphone for one of Australia’s most recognisable extreme metal exports (per Lamb Goat).
The vocalist is no stranger to the Australian heavy music scene, Grimefeld has previously performed with Honest Crooks and Vengeance, while also pursuing his own career as a rapper. He had already stepped into Thy Art Is Murder’s live lineup earlier this year before taking on the role during the band’s current European run.
Now, it appears the partnership is moving beyond the stage, in a video shared by Grimefeld on August 8th, the vocalist revealed that Thy Art Is Murder were flying him to New Jersey to lay down vocals for new material.
Interesting Timing
The timing of the announcement is particularly interesting, with the band still working their way through a busy European tour. That has left some uncertainty over exactly when the footage was recorded, but the revelation has nevertheless sparked plenty of speculation about what the band are preparing behind the scenes.
New Jersey also carries some history for Thy Art Is Murder, the band have maintained a long running working relationship with producer Will Putney, who has played a major role across their catalogue.
With Grimefeld now reportedly heading to New Jersey to record, speculation has naturally turned towards whether Putney could once again be involved in the next chapter.
For fans, the studio news provides the clearest indication yet that the lineup change isn’t simply about getting through the current touring commitments.
With Grimefeld now seemingly recording with the band, Thy Art Is Murder’s next era could be taking shape much sooner than expected.
