Melbourne metalcore force Future Static have officially announced their highly anticipated sophomore album, Ornaments & Memories, set to arrive November 6 via Wild Thing Records through The Orchard.
The announcement marks the next major chapter for Future Static following their #1 Australian AIR-charting debut Liminality, released in 2023. Pre-orders for Ornaments & Memories are available from today (August 12th), with the album set to explore a darker and more philosophical side of Future Static’s sound.
Across the record, the band confronts internal and external conflict, growth, change and love, pairing emotionally charged songwriting with bouncy riffs, stacked vocal arrangements and frantic percussion.

Personal evolution
For lead vocalist Amariah Cook, the album represents a significant personal evolution.
“I wanted this album to display growth, not just as a vocalist and song-writer, but also as a human being. Since Liminality was inspired by a stagnant lifestyle, Ornaments & Memories naturally became the musical journey of what it feels like to start setting yourself up for a life worth living – settling into core values and understanding how to handle the ever-growing emotional range that comes with caring more. All of these themes came through better than I could have ever hoped, pouring it all into the most dramatic and genre-bending heavy music my best friends and I could conjure.”
The album announcement arrives alongside the title track, “Ornaments & Memories”, which offers the first glimpse into the record’s broader themes.
Built around the concept of Memento Mori and rooted in Stoic philosophy, the track reflects on the fleeting nature of life, beginning with a slow-burning crescendo before erupting into a climactic drop.
“I wrote the lyrics to Ornaments & Memories as if writing a letter to myself to listen back to when I start to lose track of what is important. A reminder to be more present, and to take each step based on what will create the most positive impact.”
Different corners of Future Static’s sound
Future Static will continue unveiling the album throughout the coming months. “Swing” arrives September 9th, followed by “Waterworks” on October 14th, while album focus track “State of Mind” will land alongside the full record on November 6th.
Each release explores a different corner of the band’s increasingly expansive identity, from political anger and systemic injustice through to personal breakdowns, self-sabotage and the complexities surrounding consent and memory.
The new album continues an extraordinary run for Future Static, who have toured extensively across Australia and internationally, sharing stages with the likes of Babymetal, Electric Callboy, Jinjer, Enter Shikari, Don Broco, Lacuna Coil and TesseracT.
