Jebediah are taking three decades of Australian alternative rock history to the big screen, with feature documentary ‘Jebediah: Are We OK?’ set for a national cinema release this October.
Distributed across Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment, the 89 minute documentary digs beyond the records and festival stages to tell the story of Kevin Mitchell, Chris Daymond, Vanessa Thornton and Brett Mitchell, four people who started making music together as teenagers and somehow never stopped.
The theatrical release follows the documentary’s selection for the Melbourne International Film Festival 2026 Premiere Fund and will be accompanied by a national run of Q&A screenings featuring members of Jebediah alongside the filmmakers.

Thirty Years Of Jebediah, Without The Gloss
Formed in suburban Perth in 1994, Jebediah went from school bands to becoming one of the defining names of Australia’s ’90s alternative explosion. Their 1997 debut ‘Slightly Odway’ went double platinum, but ‘Are We OK?’ is looking well beyond the familiar rise to fame story.
Writer-director Arlo Dean Cook spent 11 years crafting the documentary alongside producer Brooke Tia Silcox of No Thing Productions, it combines three decades of previously unseen personal archives and home videos with present day access to the band.
That lengthy production window gives ‘Are We OK?’ an interesting angle. This isn’t simply a nostalgia hit built around old footage and a stack of Triple J memories. At its centre is the considerably messier question of how four people maintain a creative relationship for more than 30 years while building completely separate lives around it.
General national screenings through Dendy Cinemas and independent cinemas will be announced shortly, while tickets for the Q&A events are on sale now.
