Miss May I have dropped the video for ‘Death Threat’, the latest cut from their forthcoming eighth album ‘No Place For Me’.
Miss May I are digging into the uglier side of vulnerability with ‘Death Threat’, the latest taste of their new album No Place For Me, due October 2nd via Solid State Records.
The Ohio metalcore veterans have paired the track with a completely DIY video, with vocalist Levi Benton developing the concept and William Story handling production and direction.
Rather than building an elaborate set, the band shot the clip across their own properties using whatever was available to them.
That stripped down approach suits a track concerned with something considerably less straightforward: what happens when somebody takes the darker parts of your personality and turns them into ammunition.
“Death Threat is about being held in an emotional chokehold while someone uses your own flaws against you,” declares Benton. “Our darker habits deserve to be seen and worked through, not weaponized. The song walks through that worst-case scenario — someone turning your darkness on you — before landing on clarity; finally hearing what needs to be heard and doing what needs to be done.”

‘Death Threat’ follows previously released album cuts ‘Sanctuary’, ‘Hand Me A Halo’, ‘Pray for Silence’ and ‘Die on the Vine’, continuing the rollout towards Miss May I’s eighth full-length and first for Solid State Records.
For Benton, No Place For Me became a means of finally putting language around emotions he had been carrying for years.
“No Place For Me is everything I’ve felt for a long time but never had the words for. Writing it taught me who I actually am even when that hurt to look at. It’s a full journey: Where it started, what I discovered, and where I am today.”
It’s a fitting foundation for a band that has spent close to two decades turning personal pressure into tightly wound metalcore. Since emerging in 2007, Miss May I have released seven albums, with 2012’s At Heart reaching #32 on the Billboard 200 before Deathless and Shadows Inside both cracked the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top Independent Albums and Top Rock Albums charts.
The band will follow the record’s release with a North American co-headline run alongside Born Of Osiris this November and December. Convictions and Downswing will join the pair for The Perpetual Iron Tour.
