Sydney Summertime has revealed the first show in its new Centennial Park concert series, and it is starting with a serious opening swing: The Strokes, Beck, Courtney Barnett and Promiseland on the same bill.
The inaugural event lands on 20 February 2027, with The Strokes closing out their Australian tour in Sydney. It will be the New York band’s only Sydney show and the only outdoor headline date of the run.
Beck joins the lineup exclusively for Sydney, while Courtney Barnett and Promiseland will also appear at The Strokes’ Brisbane and Melbourne dates. Promiseland — the project of Johann Rashid — has an extra connection to the headliners through Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records.
Sydney Summertime was first announced in August as a new outdoor concert series for Centennial Park, running across late February and early March. More international headliners and Australian artists are still to be announced, but the first lineup gives a pretty clear indication of the scale the organisers are aiming for.
“As long-time fans of The Strokes, we couldn’t be more excited that they’re the first headliner announced for Sydney Summertime,” Black Peach founders and Sydney Summertime directors Jessica Ducrou and Elise Huntley said. “They’re such an iconic live band and the perfect way to kick things off.”
The event is also being built as more than a standard general-admission park show. Six ticket experiences are planned, ranging from GA and front-of-stage Gold Circle access through to premium viewing areas, VIP hospitality and private suites.
Food trucks, Sydney restaurant pop-ups and local producers will also be part of the site, with further details to come as the wider Sydney Summertime program is revealed.

General tickets go on sale at 1pm local time on Tuesday, 29 September.
Artist, Mastercard and Vodafone presales begin at 9am on Monday, 28 September, followed by Secret Sounds and Live Nation presales from 12pm. All times are local.
