Twiztid Rework Papa Roach’s ‘Getting Away With Murder’ for New Single

Twiztid have taken on Papa Roach’s “Getting Away With Murder”, releasing their own version of the track as the first signing-off point for newly launched label imprint 10th Street Rock.
The Detroit duo of Jamie Madrox and Monoxide worked with producer James Garcia on the recording, adding new lyrics of their own to the song originally written by Jacoby Shaddix, Tobin Esperance, Jerry Horton and Dave Buckner.
According to Twiztid, the idea came after hearing “Getting Away With Murder” while watching Netflix’s Devil May Cry. The version featured in the series is Papa Roach’s Power Glove remix, but hearing the song again was enough to push Twiztid towards recording their own interpretation.
“We’ve always loved ‘Getting Away With Murder.’ It’s just one of those songs that hits,” says Twiztid. “Then we watched Devil May Cry on Netflix and hearing it in that world sparked something. We knew we wanted to take a shot at doing our own version and drag it into the Twiztid universe. The original is legendary, so it was important to respect what made it great while still putting that Demented Duo stamp on it. It’s heavy, it’s Twiztid, and we think people are going to be surprised when they hear it”

The release doubles as the first track issued through 10th Street Rock, a new rock and alternative division of 10th Street Entertainment. The wider company manages artists including Mötley Crüe, Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills and Halestorm, while The Orchard is handling worldwide distribution for the imprint.
Twiztid have also opened pre-orders for Songs of Samhain, Vol. 5, the next instalment in their Halloween-themed series. The album is due worldwide on October 30th.
“Getting Away With Murder” won’t remain a studio-only release for long either. Twiztid are scheduled to give the track its first live performance this Saturday, October 3rd at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts, where they’ll appear with Ice Nine Kills and Millington as part of Silver Scream Con V.
