Moonspell will mark 35 years of darkness with the largest European headline tour the Portuguese metal band has attempted.
The God Is a Vampire tour begins in Langen, Germany, on March 4, 2027 and runs through 35 dates before finishing in Haarlem, Netherlands, on April 18. London’s only UK performance is booked for The Dome on March 9.
Danish-Faroese progressive metal group Iotunn and Spanish atmospheric doom band Todomal will open the full run. Moonspell selected both acts for a package that moves through western, northern, central and eastern Europe rather than stopping at the usual cluster of major cities.
The itinerary reaches Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Moonspell are also preparing a new stage design with dedicated lighting, video and sound production built around their latest album, Far From God. The record arrived in July through Napalm Records and pulled the band back towards the gothic weight of its earlier work without presenting itself as a simple anniversary exercise.
“Now we embark on our most ambitious headline tour ever,” vocalist Fernando Ribeiro said. “We’re bringing a new stage design, lights, sound and video production, and a hunger to make every night count.”
Ribeiro described Iotunn and Todomal as personal choices rather than names added to fill a package. His measure of success was equally direct: new memories, full hearts and a show capable of leaving something behind after the production has been packed away.
Australian fans last encountered Moonspell in BLUNT’s coverage of Cradle Of Filth’s Majestic In Death II North American tour, where the band joined Worm and Black Satellite as support.
Tickets for the God Is a Vampire dates are on sale through Moonspell’s official tour page. No Australian leg has been announced.
