Aerosmith have confirmed their first full concerts in more than three years, announcing two star-studded Hollywood Bowl shows in Los Angeles on 29 October and 1 November 2026. The news comes two years after the band retired from touring following Steven Tyler’s serious vocal injury.
Billed as California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends, the concerts were formally announced on Wednesday, 7 October, after the band teased its return with a video of Tyler and photographer Ross Halfin changing the letters on the Hollywood Bowl marquee.
And the “friends” part is no small detail. The announced guests include The Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Billy Idol, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Andrew Watt, Eric Church, Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, Sammy Hagar and Tom Morello. Aerosmith say additional guests will be announced in the coming weeks.
With that many artists involved, these look set to be very different nights from a conventional Aerosmith concert. The exact guest appearances for each date should not be assumed until the organisers confirm the nightly lineups.
The announcement is a remarkable turnaround from August 2024, when Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring. Tyler had fractured his larynx following the band’s 9 September 2023 show at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, just three concerts into the Peace Out farewell run. The remaining dates were postponed and ultimately cancelled.
In that retirement statement, Aerosmith said that a full recovery from Tyler’s vocal injury was not possible. But retiring from the demands of touring did not necessarily mean the band would never play together again.
As BLUNT reported in July 2025, guitarist Joe Perry revealed there had been discussions about returning to the stage, saying he believed there had to be “at least another Aerosmith gig”. Perry subsequently played down the likelihood of a full tour, while leaving open the possibility of special performances.
Tyler has gradually resumed selective live appearances, performing at Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning concert in July 2025 before joining Perry, Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt for an Ozzy tribute at the MTV VMAs that September. Aerosmith also collaborated with Yungblud on their 2025 EP One More Time.
Importantly, these two Hollywood Bowl dates are not an announcement of a new Aerosmith tour. No wider run has been confirmed.
