Metallica have played ‘Harvester Of Sorrow’ at the Sphere for the first time, adding the …And Justice For All track to their Las Vegas residency on Saturday, 17 October.

The song arrived six tracks into the show, following ‘72 Seasons’ and leading into ‘The Day That Never Comes’. Loudwire’s report includes fan-filmed footage from the performance, which took place on the sixth night of the band’s Life Burns Faster residency.

Metallica’s official show notes confirm the venue debut. It was also the sixth time they had played ‘Harvester Of Sorrow’ in Las Vegas, following its first appearance in the city during the Damaged Justice Tour in September 1989.

Its previous Las Vegas outing was in November 2018 at T-Mobile Arena. Saturday’s performance gave the song a new visual setting, with Industrial Light & Magic responsible for its Sphere visuals. The studio also created material for ‘Devil’s Dance’, ‘The Day That Never Comes’ and ‘Orion’.

The set opened with ‘Blackened’ and finished with ‘Enter Sandman’, with ‘One’ appearing immediately before the closer. Metallica’s tally for the evening was 15 songs from 10 albums, plus a Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo duet that drew on ‘Siouxsie Sue’ and ‘Just A Bullet Away’.

‘Harvester Of Sorrow’ already has a long live history. The band’s song archive dates its first performance to 23 May 1988 and lists appearances in London and Dublin earlier this year. Its return on Saturday introduced it to the residency’s repertoire after the opening five shows.

The 15 and 17 October concerts formed one of Metallica’s No Repeat Weekends, with no songs shared between the two sets. That format gives fans attending both nights two different selections from the catalogue.

Metallica designed the residency to draw on songs from across their catalogue and use Sphere’s wraparound screen, immersive audio and sensory effects. The band’s original announcement described the shows as a new way to present their music, even for fans who had already seen them in stadiums or clubs.

The residency schedule comprises 24 shows, running through 13 March 2027. The next paired dates are 22 and 24 October, followed by another weekend on 29 and 31 October.
