Heilung Bring Their Live Rituals To Sydney Opera House On 2027 Australian And New Zealand Tour

The experimental folk collective return following hiatus for seven March shows, with Lilith Max joining the tour outside Sydney.

Heilung are bringing their live rituals to the Sydney Opera House, opening a seven-date Australian and New Zealand tour with two nights in its Concert Hall in March 2027.

Destroy All Lines has confirmed the run will begin in Sydney on 1 and 2 March before heading through Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, then across the Tasman to Auckland. German-American singer-songwriter Lilith Max will support every show outside Sydney.

Bone instruments, throat singing and an ensemble of warriors give Heilung’s performances their distinctive presence. The historical influences also leave room for personal expression: in a 2023 interview with Afterglow, vocalist Maria Franz described the performers’ clothing as evolving regalia, drawing on different periods, cultural connections and objects from their own lives.

The Sydney Opera House describes Heilung’s sound as drawing on runic texts and historical artefacts, with instruments ranging from bronze weapons to running water. The collective call their approach “amplified history”. These two performances follow their sold-out Australian visit in 2024.

Their return to the stage also comes alongside renewed studio activity. Season of Mist confirmed on 13 October that Heilung were entering LAVA Studios that month to begin recording their fourth full-length studio album.

Before that arrives, Sagas is due on 11 December 2026 through Season of Mist. The separate, 11-track collection grew from their collaboration with Ninja Theory on Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, including material that never appeared in the game. According to Heilung’s release notes, a ten-day journey through Iceland helped inspire more music than the project could accommodate.

Sydney has its own ticketing schedule: Opera House Insiders presale begins at 9 am AEDT on Wednesday 21 October, followed by the What’s On newsletter presale at noon. General sale begins at 9 am AEDT on Friday 23 October through the Opera House.

For all other cities, Destroy All Lines presale begins at 9 am local time on Tuesday 27 October, with general sale following at 9 am local time on Thursday 29 October.
