Howard Jones and Adam Dutkiewicz’s Burn Eternal Sign to Metal Blade

The longtime collaborators have a completed debut album and a label home, with Burn Eternal’s first official music on the way.

Howard Jones and Adam Dutkiewicz’s Burn Eternal have signed with Metal Blade Records, bringing their completed debut closer to release. Dutkiewicz had already started writing the second record while the first was still waiting for a label deal.

Metal Blade says the first official music is approaching, giving Killswitch Engage fans a concrete development after years of updates. Jones fronted that band from 2002 to 2012, working with Dutkiewicz on albums including The End Of Heartache and As Daylight Dies.

Their new project grew from a conversation over lunch in London. Dutkiewicz describes the studio reunion in suitably unceremonious terms: “We’re just two goofballs just dicking around in the studio again”.

The reunion was productive. Getting the music out, however, has taken substantially longer than making it.

As BLUNT reported in July 2025, Burn Eternal’s recordings were already mixed and mastered while Jones was beginning work on a separate solo album with Josh Gilbert and Joseph McQueen.

In a May 2026 interview with Metal Injection, Dutkiewicz explained the hold-up. He attributed the wait partly to management and partly to negotiations with record companies over the right deal in a changing recording business. Even the vinyl mastering was already complete.

The Metal Blade agreement settles the label question he described. An album title, tracklist and release date are still to come.

Live shows remain undecided. In the same May interview, Dutkiewicz said touring would depend on demand and assembling a band to perform the material.

It’s been a long time coming, but with Metal Blade on board, fans eagerly awaiting to hear Jones and Dutkiewicz together again may finally have the goods to crank up soon.
