Deryck Whibley Launches New Clothing Brand ‘Walking Disaster’ At Warped Tour Orlando

Share

Deryck Whibley isn’t slowing down after closing the book on Sum 41, the frontman has officially launched Walking Disaster, a clothing brand he debuted at Warped Tour Orlando with a limited first drop, all designed by Whibley himself.

As reported by Alternative Press, it’s a project he’s been sitting on for over fifteen years.

“I had this idea to start Walking Disaster as a clothing company back in 2008,” he says. “I actually incorporated the name, started the company, but because I’m so committed to what I do — I was 100% focused on Sum 41 and didn’t have the bandwidth or the time…”

With Sum 41 wrapping their final headline tour earlier this year behind their last album, ‘Heaven :x: Hell’, the timing lined up at last.

“Own Your Chaos” – The Brand’s First Drop

The first collection features hoodies, hats, socks, and a curated “Chaos Box” complete with a signed book, handwritten letter, socks, and other exclusives. The brand’s mantra, “Own Your Chaos”, feels like a call out to anyone who’s ever felt on the fringe, a familiar pulse for long time Sum 41 fans.

Whibley even ran the Walking Disaster tent himself at Warped Tour and broke into an impromptu performance of ‘The Hell Song’, giving fans a taste of both nostalgia and a new creative era.

A New Creative Outlet After Sum 41

With Sum 41 officially done, Walking Disaster is quickly becoming Whibley’s next outlet:

“Once Sum 41 was over, I decided now’s the time… I still get to be very creative, and all these ideas that are floating around in my head, I get to put them into clothing instead of music.”

Upcoming drops and updates will roll out via the Walking Disaster website, and if this first launch is anything to go by, Whibley’s not done building worlds for his fans just yet.
